About this Edition
This edition of Six Easy Variations on a Swiss Song, WoO 64, by Ludwig van Beethoven is part of an effort to present historically faithful and typographically elegant editions of keyboard works for study and performance.
The engraving is based on the composer’s holograph manuscript (ca. 1790), with reference to the edition in Ludwig van Beethovens Werke, Serie 17: Variationen für das Pianoforte, No. 177 (Leipzig: Breitkopf und Härtel, [1862–90]; Plate B.177). The public domain sources have been carefully transcribed, with editorial decisions kept to a minimum and guided by historical practice.
In keeping with the original notation, dynamics, articulation, and slurring have been transcribed directly from the sources. Layout conventions have been adopted for readability without altering musical content.
